Kevin Woods For Schools
As a parent and involved citizen of the Memphis/Shelby County Community, it is not acceptable to just worry about what is best for my children. My passion is to see all children succeed is my best qualification. My experience on the unified school board has been one of strong commitment to solving problems and has earned me the respect of my colleagues. An understanding that no one board member has all the answers but collectively we can accomplish great things for our community through leadership and vision.
I believe that raising achievement throughout the entire district can be accomplished by following three specific action items.
- Expanding Pre-K throughout the district. We must start with early childhood to raise achievement.
- Having the strongest and most effective Parent and Community Engagement Program in the state. Education starts at home and in our communities, we have to do a better job to motivate our communities and families.
- Committing to integrating technology with effective teachers in more of our classrooms. Technology and effective teaching will foster a greater desire to learn. Our community must invest in our teachers and their professional development if we want them to prepare our children for 21st century opportunities.
